We at Kamcare dream of healthy communities in which individuals can grow. We are committed to assisting communities to develop to their full potential. Certain unique challenges are posed to development in the Kameeldrift area, and the Kamcare Community Development Centre is committed to facing these challenges.

The area surrounding the Roodeplaat dam, called Kameeldrift, is about 20 minutes drive from the city-center of Pretoria, the capital of South Africa. The surface-area consist mostly of smallholdings, but two fairly large and fast-growing informal settlements can be found, as well as various other extremely poor smalled communities. Infrastructure in these communities is limited to less than a bare minimum required for healthy living, there are little opportunities for children, and unemployment, illiteracy and poverty is very high.

In these circumstances Kamcare Community Development Centre continues to listen to communities and to the broader society, and search for creative ways develop these communities in the long run.
